Hello! Summer is moving fast as always, of course we still have some left, but June and July are over. This means that it is time for me to summarize my collaboration with Aktion Österbotten. In my collaboration, my work have been to in June and July update you about my childhood home and municipality, Pedersöre Forsby. A collaboration I have loved when I more than happy to show my beautiful home town. Almost every weekend this summer I have tried to spend my time in Forsby. Now it’s time to summarize must best updates from these months.
Forsby på Toppen, in the centre of Forsby and also on the highest point in Forsby, is a dance pavilion known for it’s Summer dances. Every Summer at Forsby på Toppen there’s dances, pub nights, summer events, weddings and other happenings. In the basement we used to have a lot of parties when I was a teenager and under the age of 18. This is where I had my first beer (had to be cool in front of the older boys you know, haha), I threw this big party when I turned 15 and oh yes, I’ve had a lot of fun here 😂
I actually used to dream about having my wedding in the dance pavilion! It’s so beautiful with it’s rounded shape, perfect dance floor, a big stage, high sealing and this beautiful big white chandelier in the middle of the room.
Want to know where mine and Jonas first kiss where? Of course you want! Haha. It’s now almost 11 years since we had our first kiss. We were 15 years old and it happened at this place called ‘Liitto’. I told you a couple of days ago about this dance pavilion in Forsby and that we as teenagers had parties in the basement. Well in the neighbor village, Purmo (or actually Lillby inside of Purmo), they also have this dance pavilion called Klacken. Beside Klacken there’s this small sauna building and that’s the so called ‘Liitto’. Here we used to have parties! But one Saturday almost 11 years ago we had a cozy movie night and during that movie, that’s when me and Jona had our first kiss 😉
But talking about Klacken, every weekend during Summer time they have these big events. Now this Saturday they will have something called “Klacken Party”. The performances this time are Vigiland, Solid base, Kevin Boine, Pökerz, Twosiders, Vörjeans, Seesar XL, Lilgang and Mattjus & Blomqvist. I might be going, will I see you there?
Since my home village Forsby isn’t that big will I today take you to a place not in Forsby but in the same commune and in the neighbor village Purmo. This place is called Lostenen (Lynx rock) and is with it’s 16 meters the highest erratic block in Finland. During Midsummer me and Jona paid a visit and it’s quite a cool place, when it’s just this big rock in the middle of nowhere. This place actually served as a hiding place during a war and a myth says that a girl died there when she fell down after dancing on the rock together with some friends. A boy tried to pull her up by grabbing her braids but he wasn’t strong enough….
A lovely place to go and eat to is the restaurant Uffes Mat & Café in Pedersöre. You can get anything from hamburgers to more fancy food and delicious ice cream 🍦 Outside you have a beautiful creek where you can go and enjoy your ice cream a sunny day. Outside the restaurant you’ll find an old mill that was built in the 1950’s but today works as a place where you can host weddings and other parties. I actually had my graduation party in this building. Yesterday they had a wedding there so we could not get a lot of pictures but I assure you it’s a beautiful and cozy place summer time.
Did you know that we in Forsby have a pink shit house?!? And it’s so famous that we every year celebrate with a party, the “Pink shit house Party”! This year the party has already been but next year you can join too. If you can’t wait you’ll be able to pay a visit during one of the upcoming pub nights at Forsby på Toppen. Next pub night is 17.8!
By the way this is my best friend Malin, one of the two girls I started hanging out with as a child. Then we used to run in the woods with our hobby horses 😁
This Saturday I probably had on of my best nights, haha! I can’t remember when I stayed up until 5.30 in the morning, still not tired at all, partying. In Forsby they know how to party and especially how to throw a party! The ‘Summer Järven games’ was a success! Sitting (sitz), food, beer Olympiad, games, a lot of surprises and a whole lot of craziness. These pictures aren’t actually from that night (cause clearly I had too much fun to remember to take pictures). Me and Malin took them a couple of days earlier and beside this stream, on the sports field in Forsby, the party was held. And during the Järven Games we went swimming about 7-8 times, haha. You see after the games it was free time with sauna, swimming and jacuzzi. For about 5 hours 😂 So the party was a big success! By the way this stream is called ”Pöusu” and here it used to be a sawmill but if I got it correctly it got torn down about 50 years ago.
Next up in my collaboration with Aktion Österbotten I’m going to show you the Summer Theatre of Pedersöre theatre 🎭 It’s located only a couple of kilometers from my childhood home and here you can every Summer enjoy the theatre plays played by the locals. I’m so sad I did not have the chance to go this year, but next year! In the same area, Åliden, you can also find a museum. An area with old houses from the 18th and 19th centuries decorated like they were during that time. (Go to my instagram to see videos from there).
